Meeting ReportThe NAGKC meeting, “Gamma Knife Radiosurgery in the Americas” was held in Pittsburgh on September 18-20, 2011. The scientific forum was held over one-and-half days on September 19 and 20 at Soldiers and Sailors Hall.
74 people were in attendance that included 54 physicians, seven nurses, seven PhD physicists and researchers, one physician assistant and five other visitors. These individuals represented sites from the United States, Canada, Japan, Venezuela, and the Caribbean. Dr. Dan Leksell and Ms. Catherine Gilmore-Lawless attended on behalf of Elekta.
Programs represented at the meeting included the University of Pittsburgh, University of Virginia, Yale University, Barrow Neurological Institute, University of California San Francisco, Cleveland Clinic, New York University, Hermann Hospital Texas, Rocky Mountain Gamma Knife Center, Greater Houston Neurosurgery Center, Medical University of South Carolina, Washington University, NorthShore University Health System, University of California Irvine, University of Tennessee, West Virginia University, University of Minnesota, University of Pennsylvania, Illinois Gamma Knife Center, Neurosurgical Oncology Group of Puerto Rico, Upstate Medical University, MD Anderson Medical Center.
